**NOTE: Requires DPAM Adapter Plate to fit standard Helmet Shrouds**
Wilcox Industries designs some of the most sophisticated and user-centric night vision helmet mount systems available. The first reaction people tend to have is to balk at the price tag. Sure, it is expensive, but like everything: you get what you pay for. Wilcox helmet mounts are, literally, works of engineering art. They are designed with direct input from US Warfighters at the very tip of the sharp stick. These designs are refined until they reach perfection and are then masterfully crafted in Wilcox’s state-of-the-art manufacturing facility.
The Dual Power Aviation Mount (DPAM) is a universal helmet mounting solution for night vision goggles that have ball plunger-type interfaces. This includes goggles such as the ANVIS-9 (F4949), AVS-6, AN/PVS-23 (F5050), and GPNVG-18 Panoramic Night Vision Goggles. These systems are heavily used by Special Operations Forces on the ground and in the air.
The DPAM features two methods to power the goggles. It can attach to a remote battery pack via integral cable for extended operation. An integrated battery compartment allows the mount to power the goggle from a single CR123A battery. A proprietary rear mount interface allows the DPAM to be attached directly to proprietary helmet shrouds including combination single/three-hole shroud for ACH/MICH Helmets, and four-hole shrouds for HPU-56 and SPH-4 Aviation Helmets. An L4 Interface Plate Adapter is also available for attaching the DPAM directly to standard shrouds. A low battery indicator light is below the mount so it is only visible to the wearer. This is an extremely useful feature for both ground and aerial units. A toggle switch allows the user to select where the power is drawn from: Remote or Internal.
The DPAM is one of the most unique and thought-out mount solutions for aviation-style night vision goggles. High tolerance machining means solid lock-up and precise fit between the mount and shroud or adapter. Anyone who has ever used aviation-style goggles will appreciate the low battery indicator light. Overall, there is not a more comprehensive mount system for ball-plunger interface goggles.
Regardless of the benefits, we are still asked about the price. Our answer is always this: why would you want to mount your expensive NVG’s on the cheapest mount you can find? Wilcox has and continues to set the bar to which all other mounts are measured.
